The Heel Turn: Hardy an embarrassment

A very controversial incident happened at TNA's Victory Road PPV, as Jeff Hardy showed up to the event looking as if he was under the influence of drugs. The main event was supposed to feature the champion Sting defending the belt against Hardy. The Antichrist of professional wrestling came out first, seeming to be having difficulty walking straight. Sting entered the ring next and the ref crossed his arms over his head, a signal that usually means an injury. Bischoff quickly came out and said something individually to both Hardy and Sting. Bischoff then announced that the match had been changed to be no disqualification, which was a puzzling announcement as it really added nothing to the match. Hardy walked around inside the ring and continuously held his t-shirt up to the audience, which had even commentators Taz and Tenay wondering what the hell he was doing. The action then got underway and the two combatants locked up before Sting kicked Hardy in the gut and then nailed him with a Death Drop. Sting then pinned Hardy, and it looked like Sting had to fight to keep Hardy down since he was trying to get up.

Sting looked angry as he walked back up the ramp after the match amidst fans' chants of "Bullshit!," to which Sting yelled "I agree!" This leads to the question of how Hardy even got past everybody backstage if he was unfit to compete, when the ref noticed very quickly. They should have kept him as far away from the ring as possible and sent in either RVD or Anderson as a replacement. A story could have been made as to why Hardy wasn't there, and the fans would have actually gotten the match they deserved to see, rather than the embarrassing spectacle that they were left with. One thing is for certain: TNA management has no more excuses. Jeff Hardy has to be dealt with, and that means suspending him and sending him to rehab, instead of constantly rewarding him with undeserved title runs. Being messed up at a PPV-or any other event-just proves that Hardy must not have much respect for the business, and that is a sad thing to see from a guy who was part of one of the best tag teams at one point in time.

In WWE news, Wrestlemania 27 is shaping up to be an epic event. Not only is The Rock hosting, but Stone Cold Steve Austin will be on- hand as the special guest referee for the Lawler vs Cole match. Ten years ago, Cole suffered a beatdown from Austin that he did not deserve. This time around, though, the roles are reversed, with Cole being the heel, and many fans would love to see him get a Stone Cold Stunner from the Texas Rattlesnake. There is just one thing that would make this match complete, and that is the commentary of Jim Ross, who is the best in the business, in my opinion.
