A neat and tidy workspace will leave you feeling organized, even during the busiest times during the school year.

It's that time of year again: we're all finding ourselves overwhelmed with last-minute projects and studying for finals that are right around the corner.

School alone is more than enough to deal with, and many people find it hard to keep their homes in top shape during busy times, but having a neat and tidy living space will make your life less stressful during busy times!

When busy with school finals, most of us have that “I'll do it later attitude” when it comes to our homes. Instead of doing it later, do it now. I've lived with several people throughout my school career and have noticed a trend: around the end of every semester our home got a little messy. We were all busy with school projects and studying for finals and insisted that it was more important to being doing schoolwork than tidying up. It just led to more stress and less motivation to clean such a big mess. Tidying up for at least 30 minutes every day will save you from a two-hour cleanup another day. A quick tidy up every day will you a break from doing schoolwork and give you a quick sense of accomplishment!

Here's a list of a few simple things to do in your 30-minute cleanup.

Tidy up the floor. Whether clothes, shoes, books and schoolwork are covering your floor, tidy it up! When everything is put back into place, you will be able to find your belongings quicker and not have to worry about stepping on anything important. It is amazing how fast your floor can disappear and stress you out more.

Do the dishes. At the end of every day, you may only have a small amount of dirty dishes, but that small amount can very quickly turn into every dish being dirty. If you take the time to clean the very few dishes you have every night, then you will never have to stress about not having a plate and fork to use when you starving after a study session. A mountain of dirty dishes is another stressor to avoid during stressful times!

Keep your work area tidy. After a long day of studying, it's a great feeling to pack up all your books and papers nicely until the next day. Having a clean and tidy workspace will allow you find all of the notes you need without stressing, “Where did they go, I can't find them?!”

Exam time is a stressor for all students; eliminate other factors at home that could stress you out more during this crunch time. It really is as simple as a 30-minute tidy up every day. Remember, having your home clean and tidy will make you life less stressful in stressful times!
