December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. Fanshawe College will join the nation in remembering those whose lives have been forever changed by gendered violence.

On December 6 at 12 p.m., a memorial for the 14 women who died in the 1989 École Polytechnique shootings will be held in SC2013. Students, faculty, staff and community members will gather to remember the victims and to reflect on actions we can all take to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women.

Fanshawe is seeking student volunteers to assist with the ceremony. “We need 14 people to light candles in honour of the 14 victims,” said Dayan Boyce, corporate communication officer for the College. If you are interested in helping with the ceremony, contact Boyce at dboyce@fanshawec.ca.

Please consider honouring these 14 women, and all victims of gendered violence, with a moment of silence December at 12 noon.
