Interrobang at NXNE Preview: The Coppertone

The Coppertone is Amanda Zelina, an electric blues artist from a small town north of Toronto. Devoting herself to music and the blues just over six and a half years ago, Zelina dove deep into her craft with the single intent of signing to Dine Alone Records and making music on vinyl. She released her Hymns For The Hollow EP on May 31, almost a year to the day after her first full-length, Hidden Dreams.

Though she sounds like she’s been boiled and steeped in the Delta, Zelina fiercely wields an electric guitar and makes the kind of music that turns the heads of even the most seasoned of rocks stars. You can listen to the EP with the player below - brilliant tone and a honed finger style prove her chops through your speakers (or headphones) better than any music article ever could.

The Coppertone have one gig at NXNE, though Zelina (a frequent fixture on Twitter) has been sharing news online of demoing and breaking new material out for the festival. This is most definitely a gig to see this week:

Saturday June 18, 12 a.m. at the El Mocambo (main floor)
