Interrobang at NXNE Preview: Data Romance

Data Romance are a new act out of the greater Vancouver area that came together out of their love of music - Ajay Bhattacharyya and Amy Kirkpatrick both aimed to pursue different occupations in the field, but are now making a career out of their newfound passion.

They just released their debut self-titled EP, four tracks of the kind of smokey alternative trance-pop reminiscent of the mid-1990s surge of talent from Europe and out west. While each track is shines on its own, it’s the strength of their lead single “The Deep” and (my personal favourite on the EP) “Bullets” - both of which you can hear on their Facebook page - that are cutting a path for the young duo.

Kirkpatrick’s vocals over the pair’s lush arrangements are nothing short of captivating, and the EP serves as a teaser for their first full-length release, expected this coming winter. In the meantime, Data Romance are performing twice during NXNE:

Friday June 17, TBD (check dataromance.ca for announcement)

Sunday June 19, The Ballroom (time of performance not yet listed)
