Letter to the editor: Ride flag angers student

Dear Editor:

It has been several days now with no busses running. I, being a student at Fanshawe, am having difficulties getting to school. I had a vehicle and sold it a month ago thinking I lived in the city and wouldn't need it. Now I regret that obviously, but how would I know this would happen?

I noticed the other day that Fanshawe now has a program called Flag a Ride. I must say it actually angered me. What I would like to know is why all of the students that attend the school have to pay a portion of our tuition for a bus pass automatically and its not being spent properly. There are now no busses running, yet I paid the school for a way to get to school. Where is this money at from all the students? Why is it being spent handing out stupid bumper stickers and flags for students, instead of actually doing something productive like having pickup points for shuttles around the city for students to get to?

I am not from London, so I don't know many people in order to get to school. I have to take a cab if I need to get to school, and since the busses went on strike, my grades have dropped because I can't get to school all the time. The school should be doing something better than handing out a bunch of stupid signs to students who probably won't even use them out of embarrassment.

Jen
