New Jason takes horror on the run

Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees comes back once again to get revenge for his mother's death by killing teenagers who drink, do drugs and have sex.

Who doesn't know the story of Jason and his mother?

When Jason was young he went to a camp called Camp Crystal Lake. He was a special boy who suffered from some physical handicaps. One day he started to drown in the lake but no one was there to rescue him because all of the counsellors were busy having sex. Poor Jason died.

His mother, seeking revenge, went to the camp and started killing the counsellors, only to be killed by the last counsellor left alive. Somehow Jason survived to see his mother get killed and now he has started killing young people to get revenge for his mother's death, the whole time wearing a hockey mask. This time he has his eyes set on some very rowdy group of young people who love to party that have come to a cottage nearby for a weekend full of frivolity.

This updated version of Friday the 13th is awesome. The series, which started in 1980 has produced 11 movies before this one, one of which was Freddy vs. Jason. This new remake, which does start from the beginning with a quick synopsis, was done by the same director who directed the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003.

This Friday the 13th took a classic horror film and updated it to appeal to audiences today. One updated aspect that stood out to me was that Jason runs in this movie. In every other Friday the 13th, Jason walked while chasing his victims and somehow always managed to catch them even though they were running at full speed. Not this time. He runs and it is awesome.

This movie starred Jared Padalecki (“Supernatural”), Danielle Panabaker (Mr. Brooks), Amanda Righetti (Return to House on Haunted Hill) and Aaron Yoo (Disturbia), among others. Jared Padalecki was terrific. As of fan of his roles since “Gilmore Girls” I am happy to see him making the move to the big screen.

I recommend this movie to anyone who liked the old Friday The 13th movies and is looking for a good remake.

Final Words: Saw it. Liked it. Will he ever die!?!
