Top-notch MMA fighters invade London

Adrenaline Opens doors to London

Former UFC Middleweight contender David “The Crow” Loiseau, UFC lightweight Tyson Griffin and fresh off a dominating performance at UFC 90, Gray Maynard joined Sam Stout, Mark Hominick and Chris Horodecki at the Adrenaline Training Centre as they officially opened their doors to the public on November 1 marking the biggest and newest MMA training facility in the city of London.

The 40,000 square foot gym boasts two large sections of mats to roll on, an official octagon cage, boxing ring, Thai bags and much more to train with. The facility also features a FightPlanet store, the first of its kind in London for MMA lovers to get their fix of clothing, training gear and more.

The opening of the gym is a way of showing how the sport of MMA is growing and how popular it is becoming. When an event like this happens it's something special, but when it happens in London it proves that the Forest City is the hotbed for breeding MMA fighters in Canada.

The trainers at Adrenaline Training Centre are no slouches either. Londoner Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout is coming off a controversial decision loss at UFC 89; in a fight that many feel he won. Mark “the Machine” Hominick and Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki, the other two men leading the charge at Adrenaline Training Centre, are currently preparing to fight in the new year for the up-start MMA giant promotion, Affliction MMA.

At Adrenaline there is also a unique opportunity to cross train with Xtreme Couture. Former team leader at Adrenaline, (which was at that time tabbed Team Tompkins) Shawn Tompkins took the head striking coaching job down at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas a few short years ago. After the move down south it created a partnership and relationship between the two gyms allowing fighters like Hominick, Stout and Horodecki to head down south and train with world-class fighters like Randy Couture.

This sounds like a place for the experienced fighter to go and refine their fight game, but it really isn't. Don't worry if you have never trained in any type of martial art before, I was in the same boat and decided to give it a shot, talk about a decision that kicked my ass — in a good way. Taking only the Beginner's kickboxing class and the Wrestling classes, I was gasping for air at the end of both of them in what was easily the best and toughest workouts I had done, and it kept me coming back for more.

There's no better way to get started then this Saturday while meeting six of the top guys in MMA. Come out and meet these fighters for free at the Adrenaline Training Centre at 1794 Dundas Street.
