Around the Ring: Cyber Sunday ho hum affair while TNA slumps

Another PPV has come and gone and there's not too much to write about it! Here are my thoughts on some of the matches from the Cyber Sunday PPV.

WWE Championship (WWE Universe chooses challenger)
I'm surprised that this wasn't a triple threat match, but HHH and Hardy had a decent match. The ending was too similar to their last outing with HHH once again picking up the win.

Undertaker vs. Big Show (Last Man Standing)
This match gave me the biggest laugh when Vickie messed up announcing what the match actually was. JR was even better when he yelled out, “that isn't right!” The Undertaker was down for more than 10 seconds on many occasions and it was even more mind boggling that the ref yelled “now get up” even after he BROKE his count. The Undertaker got the win but it left many scratching their heads.

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. Batista
Was it any surprise that Stone Cold was the ref? No. The surprise came with how easy it was to knock “the ref” out for more outside interference to show up. I can't believe that Batista got the win and is now the champ considering how awesome Jericho has been lately.

Kane vs. Rey Mysterio (No Holds Barred)
There weren't any sketchy holds and barely any use of weapons, so there's really nothing that set this match out from anything that you could have seen on Raw. Boring. Oh yeah, Mysterio got the win.

ECW Championship Match (WWE Universe chooses Matt Hardy's opponent)
Evan Bourne brought some fresh air to the ring and this match was one of the best of the night. Hardy won but you can bet we'll see these two going at it again.

Intercontinental Championship Match (WWE Universe chooses Santino Marella's opponent)
While it was nice to see Honky, this “match” was a waste of time and not worthy any of the build up. Beth Phoenix caused Santino to get DQ'd within two minutes of the bell being rung.

The following night's Raw stated off solid with an angry Jericho saying that he'll be champ once again next week (and finding out that he'll do it inside a steel cage) and Randy Orton demanding that Mike Adamle is fired or he'll quit the company. After setting up next week's Raw, the rest of the show was so-so.

On the TNA side of things, their live and first HD broadcast was simply horrible. All the stuff that they hyped fell flat. Want examples? Here we go:

- Foley's big announcement was that he's now a boss because he's invested money in the company? We're back to commissioner Foley's antics again (which I guess isn't that bad).

- Booker T's announcement was that he had a “Legends” belt. This reminds me of when The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase (the 1st) made the Million Dollar belt because he could never win one. This isn't even a sanctioned belt but it's already on the line at their next PPV? Bad…bad…bad…

- The show had less than 20 minutes of wrestling. It also looked like it was in some small, dank arena that you don't want to see in HD.

- Oh..let's not forget the formation of “The Main Event Mafia” featuring Kurt Angle, Sting, Nash and Booker T. This stupidly named group is looking for “respect” but the crowds don't know who to boo here. Should the new guys that need to be elevated to be the new household names be buried by the veterans or should the old timers show that Impact (and TNA) is their playground. I don't know yet, but I have the chills of WCW storylines and booking shooting down my back (and we remember what happened to that company).
