International students honoured

It's hard enough to travel to a new country for college, but attaining a 4.0 GPA while adjusting to a new culture thousands of kilometres from home is extraordinary.

On October 7, nine graduated International students who achieved a GPA of 4.0 or higher during the 2007/08 academic year were honoured in a ceremony in B Atrium.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to tell you how happy we are to have you here,” said Cathie Auger, Vice President of Student and Staff Services, of the over 500 international students from 40 different countries enrolled at Fanshawe this year.

Fanshawe President Dr. Howard Rundle was also on hand to present each recipient and explained to achieve a 4.0 GPA student must have straight A grades.

Those honoured were Rosycarmen Lopez Gross, a Corporate Communications and Public Relations graduate from Venezuela, Harsh Ajit Kankeshwar, a Corporate Communications and Public Relations graduate from India, Rusmin Teddy, a Business Administration graduate from Indonesia, Charlene Myrie, a Fashion Merchandising graduate from Trinidad and Kanishk Mehta, a Financial Planning Services graduate from India.

Tein Thuy Le, a Hotel Management graduate from China, Harpeet Kaur Gill, a Business Accounting graduate from India, Yemi Stephanie Laotan, an Advanced Filmmaking graduate from Nigeria and Yu-Jeng Yen, a General Arts and Science graduate from Taiwan, were also honoured but unfortunately could not attend the ceremony.
