More to Field than Sex

Ok, I'll admit it; I was a “Sex and the City” virgin until I saw the box office hit this summer. But now that I have caught up on all six seasons, I have to agree that there is no reason for anyone not to see it.

From the great reviews it is getting from magazines and newspapers, to girl's Facebook statues phrasing the movie, Sex and the City's fashion in my opinion were done just perfectly.

With eight awards and 16 nominations for her work as a designer and/or stylist, Patricia Field is behind the show's status as a cultural phenomenon. Field has been a fashion stylist for about 21 years and with her trademark luminous red hair, she is hard to forget. Even though she is most famous for her styling for the HBO series and box office hit “Sex and the City,” she has styled for other TV shows, such as “Ugly Betty,” “Hope & Faith” and the film The Devil Wears Prada.

Field also has her clothing line called ‘House of Field' and her own store located in New York City (of course), as well as a great website and updated blog. This online boutique has a few of the outrageous accessories from the characters wardrobe of SATC along with unique pieces designed by Field, with categories from menswear, to women's wear, to footwear and make-up. Prices range from under $20 to over $1,000 and they ship to Canada. You can hear Field in her own words describe the thought process in creating the uniform for each character on the season and movies extras/ special features. Each fashion choice was altered toward each characters unique personality, body and lifestyle. With the right tailoring you can wear and look fabulous in anything you wish to. To a curvy Jennifer Hudson, to a muscular, yet thin Carrie Bradshaw, to a 50 and fabulous Samantha Jones, expecting mother and classic Charlotte York, businesswoman and mother Miranda Hobbes, proving fashion has no boundaries.

You don't have to like fashion to love Sex and the City. If you like comedy, nudity and happy endings, Sex and The City is the movie for you. The film is already on DVD as of September 23.
