Take your style to the slopes

It's that time of the year again. The snow is falling and it's cold outside, but that doesn't mean you have to stay cooped up inside until the grass is green again.

I have tried both snowboarding and skiing and I am not good at either and I am OK with that. But, here is what I do know; the right skill mixed with the right fashion gear, equals perfection, nothing could look cooler. I am talking both guys and girls here. In the past I have watched the winter Olympics just to see the snowboarders and what they wear. The brands that design for these snow sports are amazing and so well done. Companies like Billabong, DC, Gravis, Hurley, O'Neil, Oakley, Quicksilver, Roxy, Split and North Face are just a few who suit-up some of the best athletes on the slopes.

I came across a lot of these brands and their clothing on www.TrueSnow.com. You can find and buy absolutely anything and everything to do with these kinds of brands on this site. If you are lucky and can spend big bucks on some impressive snow sport gear, high status designer brands, like Chanel, Pucci and Prada, have designed a range. I should probably advise you not to invest in all this type of gear if you have not done the sport before and/or you aren't willing to travel out of the city for find better hills.

The hills in London such as “Bolar Mountain”, depending on the snowfall, can have trouble making the proper snow.

The best places to shop in London for this type of snowboarding and skiing gear are Boat House, West 49 (the one at White Oaks mall is a lot bigger than Masonville Place) Sport Check and The Boardshop on Wharncliffe Rd. Source for Sports, also on Wharncliffee, is also a great place to buy all kinds of imported snow gear styles. Their winter coats there are specially made for winter activities with proper breathable materials, because you do sweat.

The necessities

- Sunscreen (reflection off the snow).

- A stylish and sturdy pair of sunglass or goggles, your preference.

- Some kind of head gear, whether you like hates or headbands or you're a brave one that is comfortable with just a hood. But, I recommend you do wear a hat, because hats styles are at their prime.

- Waterproof gloves that will keep you warm. I also recommend gloves with fingers because I find them easier to hold onto everything while going on and off the chair lifts.

- Warm socks! It doesn't even matter how souped-up your boots are, toes always seem to get cold. So bring an extra pair and also buy socks that won't slip off your feet in your boot.

- Some people I have seen wear wrist guards under their gloves.

- Girls, if you want to wear make-up, probably the best would be to keep it simple. Just like a tinted moisturizer, mixed with sunscreen and waterproof mascara. And a great pair of sunglasses that will stay on your face.

Other than that have fun and don't forget to eat because snow sports burn a crazy amount of calories.
