Making the right kind of resolutions this year

Welcome to 2008!

Isn't it strange how quickly time passes us by? It's as if every year that passes by gets shorter. Why is this? Is it only because we're getting older or does it have something to do with the fact that we are slowly being molded into ‘responsible' cogs in the machine of this system and acquiesced to a structured, repetitive, and predictably monotonous lifestyle.

Stop! We have a whole year ahead of us, and the whole world to change. 2008 is our year! We have 365 days, or 8,760 hours or 525,600 minutes, and we shouldn't even waste a second. Just think about how much we can achieve, and everything we could do if we chose to live with NO DEAD TIME.

Even our sleeping hours should be filled with utopian dreams, exciting adventures and magic. Everything is possible, and nothing is predictable in the dream world. But instead of using dreams as merely an escape from a dreadfully boring waking life, we must make our dreams come true and transform this world into what we truly desire.

If you're not excited about what will unfold in the day that awaits you when you wake up every morning you're not living; you're just going through the motions. Why even waste one second of your time doing things that conflict with your values, that don't make you happy, and that you don't even want to do or have you're heart set on?

It's time to break free from everything that oppresses us and robs us of our time and energy. If you do not like your program, drop out. If you hate your job, quit. If you can't stand where you live, move out and roam the world until you find you're place. Believe it or not, whatever you choose to do, things will work out, as long as you have belief in what you are doing. You can do anything you want, there is nothing holding you back but your own uncertainty.

You don't need a post-secondary education to get a good job. You don't need a good job to live a good life. There are many depressed and unsatisfied people out there who have a framed diploma on their wall and a job that pays well. You can, in fact you MUST, start living your dream right now. You have only one life to live, don't compromise it. Seize the day, seize the night, reclaim the streets, fall in love, set off on a journey with no destination and start doing the things that make you feel alive.

So forget about losing weight, making money or getting better grades. Those are all pointless resolutions that will never make you happy. The New Year's resolution we all must make is to transform this world into a more joyous and free place.
