Clubs on campus are always looking for new members

It is approaching the end of January, and possibly, like a former hall monitor unearthing his once-esteemed sash—we have already exploded into snort-giggles at the naïveté of our New Year's resolutions, peeled from the grease of last week's pizza box.

Perhaps it is time to try something a little new, a little—dare I say it, in a newspaper, which emblazons headlines like, “Going all the way with anal (Interrobang, Jan. 08)?” —-something a little sexy. The following is a list of wonderfully diverse clubs listed on the Student Union website; and their points of contact for more information:

Social Justice Club: Darius Mirshahi- fanshawesocialjusticeclub@yahoo.ca

The Spanish Connection: Georgia Pimienta- solybrisa49@hotmail.com

Brief descriptions are offered as well for each organization on the website, and the Social Justice Club in particular, enjoys a substantial following. If students however, are harboring a bit of a gooey crush on ‘Corporate America,' they may be interested to note that the following leadership positions have recently become available within Business Fanshawe:
- (Co-) Vice-President(s)
- Treasurer
- Secretary

According to Fine Arts student and former Business Club Secretary, Laura Mitrow, these positions are hot.

“It's a good opportunity to explore different avenues of business, get some hands-on experience, and meet some great people. I would definitely recommend it for someone interested in business and wants to get involved. …And definitely ‘hook up,'” Mitrow adds jokingly.

“(The club) allows students the opportunity to trial and error their thoughts on business. You can test your thoughts; see what would work and what would not,” said Christine Turner, 3M Marketing Department.

For this playground of entrepreneurial exploration, Business Fanshawe has, made an impressive approximate 130 per cent return on its initial $300 investment—leaving $700 to pass on for the next adventure—for the next great idea to be brought to life.

Club President, Nathan Nagle (Entrepreneurial Business), is deliciously feverish with having the group, “leave a legacy at the school,” and this is one flu bug that students with big dreams, and big ideas like Nick Andersen (Pre-Technology), may want to catch. “There is not only the social aspect of the club,” Andersen said. “But the planning, problem-solving, and creation of ideas not only assist you in life itself, but very similar concepts are found in most fields of employment.”

Anderson also mentioned that the big bonus of the club is the free cookies.

If you're interested, drop a line to Nathan at n_nagle@fanshaweonline.ca — and let me lick up some of that pizza grease.
