Fashion Fashionista: Fashion starts in the Big Apple

From the burrow of Soho to Central Park and everywhere in between, the mean streets of one of the greatest fashion cities in the world is just booming and oozing with the latest fall finds.

As I step back onto Canadian soil, it's clear to see that the look local Londoner's portray is not that far off from that of a ‘Manhattan Princess'.

The look most prevalent floating around the Big Apple these days is very casual and unassuming, yet subtly sexy without overdoing it. Frumpy meets chic this season, as baggy black, brown and grey tops float over tight skinny jeans sealed with either a flat or wedge boot.

Accessorizing should be fun and can be done easily with a pashmina scarf, luxurious gloves, big shades and oversized bag as it is a great way to complement almost any outfit and keep you ready for the weather ahead.

A great option to dress up your look, yet still stay warm and comfortable is to match a fitted sweater dress, with a great pair of knee length boots, sexy tights and big mid-waist belt.

Sweater vests are also coming back in a big way and give a dandy allure and help add to create a layered look. That feel is everywhere and oh so cute.

Another favourite is the red and green accent pieces. Not necessarily together, as you may look too much like an ornament, however Kelly green and Victorian red accents are popping up everywhere and look great on almost anyone.

It's the city where it all starts; as the best designers get together to display all of their latest work, and where those looks hit the streets the fastest. New York City a great place to gain inspiration on the latest looks and keep up with the hottest trends.
