Dysfunctional Sports: Jail time for Belle, finally

Well, summer is over and school is back in session. I hope everyone had a good time hanging with friends, playing sports, going to the beach ect. With that said, did anyone get sentenced to jail for putting a GPS device on their girlfriend or boyfriend's car so you could stalk them 2006 style?

Well former major league baseball star Albert Belle was recently sentenced for doing such a thing. Time to take a look at some of Albert Belle's dysfunctional behavior on and off the field.

In 1989 he spent 10 weeks in an alcohol rehab facility after he tore up a team bathroom. Fans would remember that for the rest of his career, as they would taunt him from the cheap seats as he played left field.

In 1992 a fan started to bother him about his drinking. The fan was nice enough to invite him to a keg party. Belle, who must have been insulted that someone would think he would drink from a keg, picked up a baseball and hurled it right into the mans chest. He was suspended for six games. Belle did not attend the keg party, but he did give the fan a nice souvenir.

In 1994, Belle was busted by the umpires for using a corked bat. Players like Jose Canseco, Mark Mcgwire and many others were filling their bodies with chemicals to make them have more power. Albert decided to inject his bat with cork to make him hit better. The corked bat resulted in a seven game suspension.

On Halloween one-year vandals were throwing eggs at Belle's house. Albert got into his car and chased them until his car gave one of them a little bump to the ground.

This year, Belle was arrested not once, but twice, on suspicion of stalking his ex-girlfriend, who also happens to be a paid escort. How does a multi-million dollar former athlete stalk his ex-girlfriend / escort?

He placed a GPS device on her car. He also called her numerous times and hung up on her. Now the part that gets really weird here is his wife tried to take the blame for the harassing phone calls to the ex girlfriend. Yes I know, shocking that a former professional athlete would have a wife and a girlfriend.

On August 24 he was sentenced to 90 days in jail. The good news though is Belle had already served 29 days, so he will be out in time to make sure no kids throw eggs at his house come this Halloween.
