Yesssss Fanshawe! I'm sure you've all had a wicked first week seeing as it was Frosh madness. There's nothing like a few days of partying mixed in with a bit of school to slowly merge you into the college mindset. For a brief moment, I'm going to change you're mindset yet again as I have a couple important issues to cover.

Right now I would like to have the undivided attention of the four people who read my column. Beside me on this very page you're reading is a very important person. His name is Killer Keith and he is one of my close friends whom I've recruited to write this year's weekly sports column. If you can't find him, just look for the picture of the guy who is a lot uglier than me. He'll be sure to educate you and entertain you on a wide range of sports topics. He's got some big shoes to fill as Aaron Hall did a fine job last year. Trust me when I say he will not disappoint so be sure to check him out.

Now that introductions are covered, let's get started with this week's train of thought. First week of school consisted of getting familiar with the school, registering, getting to know teachers and classmates, and other first week nonsense. Basically it's what I like to call the “set up” week.

We're now in week two of semester one and every one of you has an important choice to make.

Choice Number One: I'm going to stay on track this year and give it my all while enjoying it as much as possible.

Choice Number Two: I am going to go mental like Rick's friend Josh Rice and call it a “close one”.

Choice Number Three: I'm going to get a 2.0 GPA and if I get any higher, that means I worked too hard.

In either case, the choice is yours, but I'm going to lend you some words of wisdom just in case you make the wise choice.

Many of you are involved in fitness related activities. Whether it be training with weights, varsity sports, leisurely sports, or jogging though the park, it's clearly something that is important to you (why else would you be doing it?). You need to set time aside for your active living just as a guy has to set time aside to hang out with his girlfriend. What happens when a guy doesn't hang out with his girlfriend even though he knows he doesn't want to? She snaps on his ass and puts him in an ill mood. The same can be said for your body when you neglect it of what it loves and needs — Active Living!

Once you've figured out how you're going to organize your studies, work hours and extracurricular entertainment, you can than schedule in your fitness lifestyle. If you got a huge project due the next day, than sure, chances are you might have to miss a work out day. Maybe you've got an end of the year class celebration and you feel you deserve the day off. These reasons are all legitimate, as long as you don't find yourself in the habit of forcing excuses to neglect your body. We've all got time for T.V., which means we've got time to exercise our bodies.

Start off right, start off strong, and finish off on top. If you're going to take only one thing from today's article than remember that bad habits can come easy but good habits are just as hard to break.
