Gamers to unite downtown for Blitz

On September 21, join dozens of gamers at Chaucer's Pub downtown for a board game tournament, competing in the Great Canadian Board Game Blitz.

Attendees will be rolling dice, drawing cards and placing tiles during the eight-hour marathon.

Competitors can count on playing games such as Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride.

“It's certainly competitive, but it's also a welcoming environment and a lot of fun,” said event organizer Chris McInnis. “Players love the challenge of not only learning a game in an hour, but also trying to actually win it.”

The Blitz has been in London before, and McInnis hopes to set a record this year for the competition. “The biggest Blitz to date was 48 players. We're shooting for 64,” he said.

Admission is $10, and McInnis hopes to raise over $500. All proceeds will go to Project Play, a local event that raises money for gaming bundles to give to community centres.

“Everyone should have a chance to play games and just have fun.”

The Blitz takes place on September 21 at Chaucer's Pub at 122 Carling St. Contact McInnis at 519-701-1271 or uber@ubercoolstuff.com for more information and visit gcbgb.ca for more information about the Blitz.
