Office of the Ombuds Mandate

An agreement was previously made between Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology and Fanshawe Student Union. This has now been updated to reflect the current needs of the Fanshawe community. It is more informative and easier to understand than the prior mandate. The changes have been made to allow the Office to help you more clearly and efficiently in all ways.

One of the aspects most obviously adapted is the clarification of the Office's responsibilities to the College, as well as the individual students. The principles of the Office, including Fairness, Impartiality, Confidentiality, Independence, and Access, have been put into greater detail to help explain how the Office will accomplish the mandate.

Three main points now define the operation of the Office, which previously was not included. These are Access to information, Recommendations, and Service Location. The Office's standards of practice now includes seven points, which are easier to understand and more reasonable than the prior mandate's. Also included that was previously not are the responsibilities of the College and FSU. Another key factor that has been adapted is the inclusion of related terms and conditions of the Ombuds position.
