If you're looking to volunteer on campus, the Sharing Shop (B1050) is always looking for volunteers. The Sharing Shop offers donated clothing, school supplies, personal supplies and food to students in need, and is run by volunteers.

I had the chance to talk with Dominique Moseley, a Human Resources student, who volunteers at The Sharing Shop.

What made you decide to volunteer at The Sharing Shop?
"I was looking for volunteer hours for class and I noticed a sign outside on the door of The Sharing Shop, so I made an appointment with the woman who runs it."

Do you enjoy it? Why or why not?
"Yes, because you get to meet interesting people while helping them too, because we are all students living on our own and need help once in a while."

How many people volunteer there?
"There are a handful of people who currently volunteer, but ideally we need more so the shop can be open more hours during the week."

Would you recommend volunteering to other students?
"Yes, because it's a great opportunity for anyone who is willing to lend a hand to help."

What kind of stuff can you find at The Sharing Shop?
"Men's and women's clothing, canned goods, dry food, textbooks, baby items, personal hygiene items, binders and school supplies."

Anything that is needed? How do you donate?
"Everything and anything! There are two main boxes that are located outside of The Sharing Shop and outside of the Counselling and Accessibilities office (F2010)."

What are the hours of operation?
"It all depends on the volunteers; I volunteer on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m."

At the end of our interview, Moseley added, "Volunteers are needed and it's a good way to get in any hours you may need for class or something to do on your break or free time. If anyone is interested just stop by the Counselling and Accessibilities office and ask them, or stop by the Sharing Shop located in B1050."
