Double Up This Halloween Costumes for Couples

It's Halloween, and you and your significant other are thinking of doing something special. Instead of riding solo and wearing your own thing, why not combine minds and wear a couples' costume? Two is always better than one.

There are tons of costume ideas that you and your partner could check out. They can be outrageous, funny or just plain simple, but they will definitely separate you from the rest. Here are five suggestions that will have the both of you sticking out like a sore thumb... in a good way, of course. It's Halloween, so you're allowed to show off.

Ketchup and Mustard
What says 'togetherness' more than ketchup and mustard? Not only do the two taste good together on food, they make for a great couples' costume.

If you want to go all out, you can rent the actual costumes from a shop, or you could easily just wear red and yellow shirts or tunics and pants with large "Ketchup" and "Mustard" stickers on them and a pointy hats to give the impression of squeeze bottle caps.

You can even squirt some real ketchup and mustard on you to make it more realistic. (Just kidding.)

Fred and Wilma Flintstone
Not only does a Fred and Wilma Flintstone costume scream fidelity, it's pretty easy to make.

Fred simply needs some type of orange fabric, glued on black blocks and a large blue tie. Wilma can pull it off with a white dress, large pebble necklace and an orange wig.

If you want to go out as a quartet with two other people, the second couple could be Barney and Betty.

To complete the look, I recommend going barefooted, but sandals may do.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus
It may be two months too early, but Mr. and Mrs. Claus is a classic couples look, even for Halloween.

The costume is tricky in that it's almost impossible to pull off without renting it from a costume shop, but what makes the Christmas couple unique is the amount of props you can add to it. Santa can carry a brown or red sack stuffed with newspaper to give the illusion of presents, and Mrs. Claus can bring along a basket of candy canes to give out to trick-or-treaters.

It may not be the spookiest look, but Mr. and Mrs. Claus is definitely going to stand out.

Batman and Poison Ivy
Batman and Poison Ivy may have been mortal enemies when they fought each other, but that doesn't mean they can't make a great couple for Halloween. Poison Ivy is known as one of the sexiest villains out there, and the costume will definitely turn heads.

Batman could be a tedious make if making it from scratch, so simply renting the costume as a whole would be best. It helps if whoever wears Ivy is a redhead, but if not, a red wig or some dye would do just fine. A green dress covered with real or fake leaves and a green half-mask is pretty much the costume.

Mario and Peach
Not only is Mario one of the most popular video game characters of all time, he and the dame that he continually strives to save from danger makes for a distinguished couples' costume.

A pair of blue overalls over a red sweater, a red cap and a fake (or real) mustache is all that's needed to pull off Mario. Peach would work best with a ready made costume from a shop, but if not, a pink dress, crown or white tiara, gloves and umbrella would nail the look.

Ideas for couples' costumes can come from anything that goes together in a pair, such as Barbie and Ken, doctor and nurse, and salt and pepper. Get creative with your significant other this Halloween and couple up!
