Get Aktiv and win money

We all know how pricey college is. If you're like most students, you're probably working a summer job to go along with a student loan, applying for bursaries and scholarships and hoping your parents chip in with expenses. If you don't already know, there is tons of money to be had to fund your education (check out fanshawemoney. ca), and for Fanshawe business students, there is a new award to be won.

Aktiv Kapital, a local debt investment company located on Dufferin Avenue, is donating a scholarship for students enrolled in the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business for the fall 2012 session. The Aktiv Kapital Social Media Business Award is worth $1,000 and is open to most business programs, but unlike most other scholarships, this one doesn't require you to put pen to paper. The application process for the award is completed over Twitter.

You must have your own Twitter account to qualify. Follow @AktivKapitalCan and wait for them to follow you back. Once they follow back, pay attention to your Twitter feed and retweet “Scholarships help reduce difficult student debt #fanshawecollege #ldnont” posted by @AktivKapitalCan. To actually apply, send a direct private message to Aktiv Kapital that includes your Fanshawe student number and, within the 140-character Twitter limit, explains why student debt is making it difficult for you to pay for school. That's it. No complex 10-page essay, no funny math questions. But don't stop with just 140 characters of talk. You can be as creative as you want; in your message, you can include a link to a video, blog, song or any type of creative expression that you think will increase your chances of winning. Applications are due on July 27.
