COD2 more like WWII

My neck hurts and my ears are ringing. It's been a long time since a game has had me frantically turning my neck with the in-game camera because of the intensity of the gameplay in Call of Duty 2. I don't even know where the term “game” fits into this review. I mean, it is a game and I really can't die from playing it (unless I starve and piss myself) but the level of realism is growing.

Yes, there are some prettier PC games out there, but the visuals for this game are top notch and no one will scoff at the 360 for presenting these fine graphics. The level of detail in the scenery, the clothing, the guns and the enemies are so high end that unless they digitize real war, it's going to get harder to do better. I may be exaggerating here, but the thrill of next-gen console graphics make me giddy.

Speaking of the enemies, even on the medium difficulty setting, you really don't have too much time to watch their physics or the looks on their faces because you'll be too busy watching out for their grenades and how they react to any of your moves. These guys aren't stupid. Sometimes the enemy AI is so good on the hardest difficulty level that you're going to throw your controller. Not from cheap deaths but because there are computer enemies that will thwart your every effort.

If you have a nice TV and the money to spend on a 360 and some games, you might as well splurge a little more for a nice home theatre system because this game takes full advantage of the audio capabilities of the 360. Hearing your teammates yell, your captain give orders in the heat of the battle or your enemies scream while facing their untimely demise sucks you into the battlefield like no other game. It actually feels like you're in the middle of WW2, without the chance of injury.
