Wear your heart on your wrist

Remembrance Day is just around the corner, and those famous red poppies will soon be sprouting up on lapels everywhere. The We Remember With TLC Veterans Campaign is also selling wristbands to get people to honour veterans with their wrists as well as their hearts.

For $2, purchase a wristband at one of four locations across the city. The money raised goes to 11 community organizations that support veterans, including The London Poppy Fund, the London Military Family Resource Centre and local branches of the Royal Canadian Legion.

"Our historical past teaches lessons of human folly, but also teaches lessons of generosity, compassion and goodness that have inspired future generations," explained Rick Austin, Advisory Council Member for the campaign. "We Remember With TLC will be part of that inspiration, highlighting simple acts of kindness and sacrifices of appreciation and remembrance each year for those who gave us our freedom."

Wristbands can be purchased at The London Military Family Resource Centre at the Wolseley Barracks, 701 Oxford St. E. (519-660-5366); The Duchess of Kent Legion, 499 Hill St. (519- 438-6521); The Royal Canadian Air Force Association 2155 Crumlin Side Rd. (519-455- 0430); and The Royal Canadian Naval Association 2155-B Crumlin Side Rd. (519-659- 9657).
