June 17 - As part of their picnic series of concerts, organizers are hosting daily concerts at Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto during NXNE. Thursday through Sunday afternoons have been organized for music lovers to drop into the park and hear some great acoustic music while they picnic or spend time in the sun.

On Friday, amidst the hum of NXNE a few shorts blocks to the east, Trinity Bellwoods featured an excellent lineup, including Winnipeg's Enjoy Your Pumas, Toronto's The Balconies, and London's own Olenka and the Autumn Lovers.

Enjoy Your Pumas, fronted by Rosie Blais, visited Bellwoods while on their first tour to Ontario, though they hope to have many more, including hopefully a stop in London.

A London staple, Olenka and the Autumn Lovers suited the scene very well in the park, their rich sound very complementary to the quiet, warm setting.

Trading in their usual blistering guitars and tight rhythms, The Balconies appeared in a different form altogether - something bassist Stephen Neville likes to call "Classic Balconies". Armed with a viola, double standup bass and classical guitar, the band played some reworked versions of their hits, a gorgeous surprise for the ears and the eyes.
