DVD Review - Homer Head makes Season 6 even better

YESSSSS! Another Simpsons set! Can it get any better than this? Well, I guess it could, since the Simpsons are played like 20 times a day on different stations. But here in all their DVD glory, you get the unsyndicated (is that a word?) versions in digital picture and sound quality.

Maybe some of you have been a little reluctant to pick this set up seeing how the packaging has turned from a standard DVD box set to a new Homer head packaging. I personally like the new packaging, but for all you fanboys that don't, you can actually send some shipping and handling money to Fox for an old-style case.

Now, with that all being said, it's really hard to review a Simpsons DVD set because I've probably said everything about the Simpsons I can say in other reviews (Cole's Notes: it's the best show ever on TV) so I'll just give you the rundown of a few key episodes and the special features.

Some of the better episodes in Season Six include “Itchy and Scratchy Land” with the great mention of Searing Gas Pain Land, “Lisa on Ice” which shows the stupidity of some parents who enroll their kids in sports and try to live out their dream and/or violent nature, “Homie the Clown” where Homer beats the hell out of the Krustyburgler, and the greatest cliff hanger episode ever on TV, “Who Shot Mr. Burns Part 1.” Could you ask for better episodes?

For the bonus features, you get the standard episode commentaries that I never listen to. Why would anyone wanna watch these great shows with people talking over them? You also get some funny TV commercials, a “Springfield's Most Wanted “ farce TV show and almost 15 minutes worth of deleted scenes (worth the price of the DVD set alone).

Ok, I'm a Simpsons fan. There could be no reason on Earth (even being broke) not to pick this up. If you're the same rabid Simpsons fan, then you already have this set. If you don't, shame on you and I'm not letting you into the Stonecutters (another EXCELLENT episode on the disc). The Simpsons is perfection and that gives me the right to give it a 10 out of 10. Now, can we just get all those Tracy Ulman shorts on one DVD?
