Holidays complete “the blueprint of life”

Holidays are necessary and they are desirable, they are an essential condition for human happiness. No blueprint of life is complete without holidays, for they break the monotony of a dull, drab, everyday routine and add colour to our lives. Holidays symbolize leisure, pleasure, recreation, amusement, and rejuvenation at any age.

Mention holidays and I am reminded of my school days, when the month of December dawned, bringing the optimistic message to the student community that holidays were round the corner and the ordeal of being shut up in cold, stuffy classrooms was coming to an end. It was celebration time.

Maximum enthusiasm, of which we were capable, could be seen in the school buses as they left the gates of the school at the start of the winter vacation. There was a jarring confusion of noises as a group of boys sang in joy.

The festive spirit was on board the bus. Pages were torn from exercise books to make planes, pages were shredded into confetti and handfuls were tossed up to be showered over their excited friends. Boys battled one another with papers bunched into missiles, many played pranks and jokes on one another. Some in the guise of cannon balls, trumpets, trains, and flutes filled the air with an awful lot of noise, some danced jigs in the aisle — they were boisterous and hilarious with joy! Some sat exploring the range and variety of holidays; they let their imagination run riot to devise other interesting ways to make them cheerful, pleasant and profitable. Some of us planned to spend the days in stupid idleness or on an exhausting round of exciting adventures.

This year, though, I will miss Fanshawe College!
