Starting on Thursday, over 300 college football players will fill Lucas Oil Stadium to start working out for NFL teams at the annual NFL Combine. However, more pressing issues will be on hand the following week. NFL free agency starts the first week of March, and there are a number of solid players on the market this year.

I am going to take a look at the top 10 free agents on the market right now, and predict where they could end up.

10. Larry Johnson: Johnson spent last year with the Cincinnati Bengals after being cut by the Chiefs. When healthy (and motivated), Johnson can still be a powerful running back in the league.
Projection: Johnson would fit in a tandem in Houston with Steve Slaton.

9. Torry Holt: Holt has been one of the best wide receivers this decade, but has fallen on tough times the last few years. Injuries derailed his career in St Louis, and bad quarterback play was his undoing in Jacksonville, but “Big Game” has some juice left in the tank.
Projection: Holt switches AFC South teams and signs with the Texans

8. Chester Taylor: Taylor has played second fiddle to Adrian Peterson in Minnesota the past few years, and the Vikes would like to keep him, but they could be in for a bidding war. Taylor will be a very good back in a tandem system.
Projection: Taylor follows Holt to Houston, providing Matt Schaub with a ton of offensive weapons.

7. Darren Sharper: The ageless safety had a huge season, snatching nine interceptions, and re-established himself as a great safety in the league. Wherever he goes, it will likely be to another one year deal.
Projection: Re-signs with the Saints.

6. Dunta Robinson: The Texans are facing a lot of questions this offseason, and the defence will be stripped of one of its major assets if they let Robinson walk. A solid cover corner, Robinson's skills will likely be in high demand.
Projection: Signs with the Patriots.

5. Vince Wilfork: The mammoth defensive tackle has expressed interest in staying with the Pats, but doesn't want to have the franchise tag on him. Any team that uses a 3-4 defence would work.
Projection: Wilfork either gets franchised or signs with the Broncos.

Terrell Owens4. Terrell Owens: The usually temperamental wide receiver was well-behaved in Buffalo, but won't be back with the Bills. Is there still are market for T.O.? I think so. He still has solid skills, and his conditioning continues to be among the best in the league.
Projection: Signs with the Bears.

3. Aaron Kampman: Kampman is coming back from an ACL injury, but he should still be a force in the pass rush, in a 4-3 defence. If he goes to a team where he wouldn't be facing double teams, Kampman will get back to double-digit sacks.
Projection: Signs with the Falcons.

2. Karlos Dansby: The Cardinals defence has been much improved over the last two years, and Dansby was a main reason. The Cards could use the franchise tag on him, but I think they will lose Dansby to free agency. Most teams in the league could use a linebacker like Dansby.
Projection: Signs in Buffalo to help the switch to a 3-4.

1. Julius Peppers: Peppers has been on-again, off-again throughout his career, but he is primed to make a lot of money. Likely the $100-million man this offseason, Peppers will be snatched up quickly.
Projection: If they can afford him, he signs with the Patriots.

Next week I'll take a look at the NFL combine.
