10 Things I Know About You...Missy leaves kitchen to others

Missy Mathews is a first year Broadcasting-Radio student. She is a small town girl from Northern Ontario and has worked hard for every single thing that she has. Missy loves her family, culture, reading, and music. She also has an irrational fear that she's going to get amnesia so she take tons of pictures and keeps a journal.

1. Why are you here?
To further my education and break the stereotypes of Aboriginals that some people still believe.

2. What was your life changing moment?
When I graduated high school. I was the first one in my family to do it and hoped it set an example for my brothers. Break the cycle, man!

3. What music are you currently listening to?
I am listening to Blue Rodeo.

4. What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Do or do not - there is no try.

5. Who is your role model?
Her name is Ayn. She is a strong Mohawk woman who always gives me much needed reality checks and wise words of encouragement.

6. Where in the world have you traveled?
I have only travelled a bit of Canada. I've been to B.C., Saskatchewan, and Quebec. B.C. is gorgeous!

7. What was your first job?
Tim Horton's! I worked there all through high school. Maybe that's another reason I'm here. I didn't want to work at Timmy's for the rest of my life.

8. What would your last meal be?
Perogies with lots of sour cream (I can make light sour cream unhealthy with the amounts I use haha), fried up with bacon and green onions. On condition that I don't have to cook it! I'm a terrible cook.

9. What makes you uneasy?
Having to cook for myself!

10. What is your passion?
To be the best person I can be in all areas of my life and to be a strong Aboriginal role model for my people!
