Dinosaurs invading London
Each dinosaur in the show weighs 1.6 tons and it will take about 25 semi-tractor trailer trucks to bring everything for the show to the John Labatt Centre that runs from August 12th to the 16th. The show is based on the award-winning BBC Television series, and is currently on tour across North America with its first-ever appearance in the Southwestern Ontario region. Since the 20 million dollar production opened two years ago more than two million people have had the chance to travel back in time to see the scary creatures that roamed the Earth. The production features a paleontologist/narrator who takes the audience on a 90-minute journey through the 200 million year reign of the giant creatures.
At the media conference to promote the a group of students from Bonaventure Meadows public school in London had the chance to get up-close and personal with the special first-ever appearance of Baby T. Rex, just one of the 15 dinosaurs in the show. When full grown it can be 70 feet tall, or about the size of a three-storey building. Chris Campbell, director of marketing for the John Labatt Centre said you don't want to pass up this chance to see these awesome creatures.
“It's a very unique opportunity for people from London and surrounding area to get a sense of what life was like on Earth millions and millions of years ago,” said Campbell.
Matthew Rimmer a spokesperson for the North American Tour of the show echoed Campbell's sentiments.
“I've been in show business my whole life and I've never seen anything like this on this scale, it's completely mesmerizing.”
