Fanshawe student takes province-wide Campus Idol

She started singing at the age of six, tried out for Canadian Idol, and now owns the title of Campus Idol.

After winning Campus Idol at Fanshawe last month, Nicole Scott dominated Campus Idol facing off against students from St. Clair College, Mohawk College, Niagara College, Conestoga College, Georgian College, McMaster University, York University and Brock University.

Not only did she receive bragging rights for wining Campus Idol, she also walked away with $1,000.

“My Aunt Beth who passed away recently, heard me sing as a child and encouraged my parents to nurture my talent, and the rest is history I guess, I have been singing ever since.” said Scott.

During Campus Idol Scott performed songs by Taylor Swift, The Pussycat Dolls and Sarah Bareilles, winning the competition with “Love Story” and “Fifteen” by Taylor Swift.

Not only does Scott have Campus Idol on her resume, she was also fortunate enough to win a spot on Canadian Idol, and she is this year's KICX's FM Nashville Star (which also had a prize of $1,000).

“After graduating this spring I will be heading into the studio to record my debut album, after that I hope to head to Nashville,” said Scott.

And if you missed her at Campus Idol you can check her out at on May 2 at the Kevin Lord Memorial Fundraiser.

“The Kevin Lord Memorial Fundraiser is in memory of a dear friend of mine who passed away from cancer, there is a Facebook group called 3rd Annual Kevin Lord Memorial Fundrasier,” Scott said.
