Fanshawe flaunts fashions

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

This statement was proven true on March 26, when the Fashion Merchandising students held the Fifth Element Fashion show.

With some of the proceeds going towards the Spread the Net foundation, that is teamed up with UNICEF Canada that will purchase Mosquito nets to prevent the spread of Malaria in Liberia and Rwanda.

The designers created stunning masterpieces using recycled good like pop tabs, water bottles, feathers, toilet paper and much more.

Covering the elements of Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire, pieces from the earth element resembled flowers and trees.

Wind featured feathers and flowing trains. Water featured bubbles, and a breath-taking mermaid piece, and Fire was filled with red and orange, and a fiery “Victoria secret-esk” angel.

The winners from the fashion show are, from Earth - Caitlin Reeve, Stacie Rogers, and Kaitlin Waller; Wind - Alysha Gios, Nicki French. Water - Haley Nelson; and Fire - Kim Hamblin, and Diana Leal Robles.

Great recycled pieces of art created by everyone, I look forward to seeing more on the runway next time.
