D'Hollander a role model for all coaches

Paul D'Hollander goes well beyond the call of duty when it comes to being a coach.

Known as a man who goes above and beyond what is actually expected of him, D'Hollander coaches with the purpose of helping student athletes achieve all of their goals, and not just the ones going in the net.

D'Hollander exemplifies what it means to be a proud coach, and role model at Fanshawe College. He knows what it takes to win on the field, and also that it means much more to be a better person off the field.

This season D'Hollander was named the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Soccer Coach of the year. The over-17 years of mentoring athletes has meant that D'Hollander has invested a lot of his own personal time for the benefit of others. It's that passion and commitment that helped the Fanshawe Falcons men's soccer team enjoy a thrilling season with a 9-1-1 record, and a West Division title.

The roots of Coach D'Hollander don't stem too far either. He is a grad of Fanshawes' Recreation Leadership program.

A true athlete at heart, in 1979 D'Hollander was named Fanshawes' Male Athlete of the Year, and was also inducted into the Wallaceburg Hall of Fame.

The commitment of Paul D'Hollander goes much further then just the Falcons men's soccer team though. Over the past decade while juggling a heavy workload and doing volunteer work, D'Hollander has competed in over 40 marathons.

Mentoring other coaches has becomes something important for coach D'Hollander as well. He is certified with his level three certification and trains and mentors other coaches while he shares his winning attitude and philosophies on leading and motivating those that surround him.

Off of the soccer pitch D'Hollander is the Manager of Area Recreation Services in the city of London's Community Services Department. A lot of time is spent planning and going forward with ideas to keep the residents in London active, involved and reaping the benefits of recreation and leisure activity. D'Hollander must have more then 24 hours in his day because on top of everything else he coaches two local area youth soccer teams. Saying Paul D'Hollander is a busy man is quite the understatement.

There is not much more you can say about a man that seemingly does it all, year after year. Coaching, mentoring, teaching, and competing. Coach D'Hollander exemplifies what being a proud Fanshawe Falcon and human being is all about.
