Poetry - In life and death

Ponder
I gaze upon the tombs of old
And ponder the fate of man
Why must we be parted so in death?
What is a man that he fades into nothingness?
Rotting as the maggots eat his flesh slowly
What is our body that we treasure it so in life?
All this I ponder as I gaze upon the tombs of old

Drunk Man
Lonely man lying on the streets drunk
Everyone gazes at him laughs and walks away
Yet no one knows the deep pain that lives within him
Cold nights he shelters himself with tears running down his cheeks
A broken heart which no one cares to heal
Alone he dies on the streets one winter night
A single rose held between his cold hands
It is a sad story of an old drunk man

Life And Death
I sit and gaze upon the stars
I ponder about all that is upon the earth
I behold my flesh and the blood there of
I listen to my heart beat as it speaks to me
I think about all of creation and how it came to be
I see man walking and man lying beneath the ground
One is alive and well and there other is dead and forgotten
My mind cannot conceive the world that is spoken of in books
Heaven and Hell I do not know of thy dwellings
Nor do I wish to know for my heart has suffered much

Marilyn's Death
There she lay, an endless beauty
For she sleeps the sleep of death forever
For thou did come forth weeping from the womb to the grave
On thy bed of perfume naked as a new born infant
Not a single tear was shed nor a plea for thy return
For behold they proclaimed thy weakness and sorrows
Lies and lies they did speak forever more
Around thee like wild bees they did gaze upon thy face
Next to thine bed a table covered with bottles of death
Thy heart might not have been kind or meek but we have loved thee
In our eyes thy countenance was beautiful
We ask thee to speak onto us from thy restful place
It can not be true for one as fair as thou must not be

Spirit
Spirit of the night come forth
You whom ones was but a body is now not
All who see thee fear thy presence
Thou has walked about gazing forever upon the earth
Does thou heart still love?
Does pain remain in thy soul?
Has thou forgotten what life is?
Oh spirit of the night come forth
