National Day of Action

If you have been anywhere near the Student Union office lately you may have noticed signs stating that Fanshawe Student Union is a proud member of the CSA.You may have even stopped to wonder what CSA is and why are we so proud to be a member of it.

CSA stands for College Student Alliance and it is “a member-driven advocacy and student leadership organization which proudly serves Ontario's college and college-university students”. The CSA currently represents 16 colleges and 23 student associations throughout Ontario.

There is a reason why the CSA mission statement is strong students; strong leadership; strong colleges. The CSA is full of resources for student leaders to help them do their jobs effectively and efficiently. They provide leadership skills development, governance training, best practice methods, advocacy resources and networking opportunities. The CSA also acts as an advocate for college students (meaning they stand up to the government for us). They fight for issues that affect college and college-university students on a regular basis, including tuition fees, transferability, college collective bargaining, and college funding.

On November 5th there will be protest in Toronto against tuition fees. College students and College student organizations will be calling on the government to reduce tuition fees. The CSA has our backs and will be advocating for Fanshawe as well as the other colleges they represent.
