Letter to the editor... Police Foundations student get cudos for clean-up

Ladies and gentlemen of Fanshawe College, the annual event of the Fleming Street chaos may actually get rivalled by the Police Foundation Students! Shocking, I know, but it is true.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2008, over 30 students from the Police Foundations Program took time out of their busy schedules to go to the neighbourhood of Westminster Park which is located in South London not far from White Oaks Mall. They arrived at 6 pm and worked well into the night helping remove graffiti from a neighbourhood that is located in the middle to two gang territories.

This neighbourhood falls victim to rival tagging on a fairly regular basis. On Tuesday night the students of the Police Foundations helped the neighbourhood rally back by removing the graffiti on a plaza building located in the central hub of the Westminster Park. While earlier in the day some local residence attack green boxes.

A-Channel News covered the Westminster Park Graffiti clean-up effort. However, I did not hear a thing on the news the next day to let London know that a group of amazing Fanshawe Students were ready willing and able to assist in this clean up. I must say I was very disappointed.

So, to all of you Police Foundation Students that took your time to help with this neighbourhood cleanup, thank you so much. You are appreciated!

Personally, I think we should hold a press conference reminding the press that Fanshawe Students truly add to the communities of London in so many ways.

Well that's my two cents worth.
