The most famous philosophers of ancient Greece had little money and long grey beards (don't get bored and go read something else, I'm actually going somewhere with this). They could be found in the street sharing their ideas and philosophy with others.

We still have men with no money and long, grey beards who stand in the street sharing their thoughts with anyone who will listen, only now we call them homeless people.

I am not saying that ancient Greek philosophers and homeless people are synonyms for one another; I am just looking at them both from another angle.

Everyone's parents tell them not to judge a book by its cover, and if they didn't I'm sure you picked it up from a Sesame Street episode. I'm not going to lie; I judge books by their covers all the time. It's hard not to. The cover, after all is the first thing you see and if the author puts a lot of time in to finding a good cover they're more likely to put the time and effort into writing a good book. Right?

Actually, I am not sure how much control the author has over the cover because I have never had anything published. I do, however, know of a published poet that lives right here in London. He can be found downtown, often on Richmond Street, sharing his thoughts and poetry and sometimes songs with anyone who will listen. You may have seen him, he is poorly dressed and his beard is so long and grey it would make ZZ Top jealous. So many people that do see him just assume he is some senile old man that likes to talk to himself. I know I was surprised when I learned that he had actually written poetry and had it published.

Of course you should not judge a book by its title either; just because someone is a published poet doesn't mean he can't also be a crazy old homeless guy. I am not sure if he is or not, I personally do not know that much about him. I just think we should all take a little time to learn about other people before we jump to conclusions based on their appearance or job title.

Anyway, that's all the time we have for today kids. Keep on rockin' in the free world and be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
