Fanshawe College Paramedic students held a charity car wash and barbeque event at both the City of London EMS Headquarters (Station 1) on York Street and the City of St. Thomas EMS Headquarters (Station 1) on Edward Street. A total of over $1,500 was raised in honour of Easter Seals and September 11 Appreciation BBQ. ‘Easy Rock' 93.1FM helped in advertising for the event.

Thursday, September 11

Appreciation BBQs took place at Thames EMS of London (Station 1), Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC) and Thames EMS of Elgin/St.Thomas (Station 1) on September 11. These events were put together by the Second Year Class of Paramedic students attending Fanshawe College. The lunchtime BBQs were held in thanks for these EMS centres' past and present participation in clinical ride-outs for the students, as well as preceptorship placements involving the second years. Oxford County EMS and Perth County EMS appreciation BBQs were held the following week.

September 23 to 25

The AMEMSO Golf Tournament at Fire Rock Golf Club kicked of the Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services of Ontario Conference that took place in London. Children's Wish Foundation was a huge winner at the conference, as the charity was handed a donation collected from those in attendance totaling $7,600. As well, The Children's Hospital of Western Ontario — Palliative Care received $6,200 raised in honor of Shelby Gagne. The AMEMSO Conference was a fantastic success; many thanks go out to Jim Christie and Jim Malik of Thames EMS for organizing such a great event, as well as to those Second Year Paramedics that volunteered their time.
