Animal rights speaker
Join wildlife activist Rob
Laidlaw as he explores the myths
and realities of zoos and our relationship
to animals. This talk will
explain why most zoos are a manifestation
of our societal view that
nature is there to be altered and
manipulated; examine some of the
current problems that captive animals
face and; look at where captivity
may be moving in the future.
The presentation takes a holistic approach to understanding the experiences of animals and our relationship to them on both a personal and societal level. Rob Laidlaw is the founder of Zoocheck Canada, a charity dedicated to protecting wildlife in captivity in the wild and is the author of the newly published book Wild Animals in Captivity.
