Action, weed make good combo

Pineapple Express

Judd Apatow and his crew have once again created a funny movie, but this time they took it one step further by adding a lot of exciting action in Pineapple Express.

Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) is a court-processing clerk, who enjoys his job because it allows him to get high all day long. During a mid-day visit to Dale's dealer's house, Saul (James Franco) he buys the most exotic, amazing weed he has ever smoked called Pineapple Express.

After leaving, Dale goes to the house of Ted Jones (Gary Cole), his last delivery of the day and witnesses Ted shoot someone inside his house. Dale quickly tries to leave the scene, but in the process he throws his roach out his window and hits several vehicles, including a police car. This cleanly draws a great deal of attention to himself.

It just so happens that Ted Jones is the man who imported the Pineapple Express, which was given to only one dealer, Saul, who sold it to only one customer, Dale. Knowing that they will quickly be found, and fearing for their lives, Dale and Saul go on the run. This begins the journey of a man and his dealer as they run from bad guys, share in their love of weed and become friends.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was funny, but had depth and was full of action, which sets it apart from the previous movies released by Apatow and his gang.

Rogen, and his writing partner, Evan Goldberg, wrote both the original story and the screenplay, but it was Apatow who produced the movie that came up with the concept.

Rogen (Superbad, Knocked Up) was very good in this movie. However, James Franco (Spiderman 3) stood out the most. Almost every line he says is hilarious and memorable. This was the first comedy role that Franco has done since his break-through role in “Freaks and Geeks.” I recommend this movie to anyone who has enjoyed the previous movies from this group of comedians, and overall, just wants to laugh.

Final Words: Saw it. Loved it. How can one group of people, come out with so many funny movies?
