Dark Knight, Ledger, take film to the next level

Dark Knight

WOW! Dark Knight, with its great cast, amazing acting, terrific plot and effects, is by far the best movie of the year.

Batman a.k.a Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) continues his war against crime, becoming a true hero for the citizens of Gotham.

He receives help from his friends Lucious Fox (Morgan Freeman), Lieutenant Gordon (Gary Oldman), and the new District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Harvey Dent, who is determined to put an end to the crime in Gotham, is seriously involved with Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), Bruce's first love. However, she still seems torn between her two knights in shining armour. Unfortunately for Harvey, winning Rachel's heart will not be his only battle, as tragedy forces him down an unexpected path, when he takes on a new name, Two Face.

Crime levels seem to be dwindling and the crime bosses are pushed back into hiding, losing tons of business. That is until The Joker (Heath Ledger), a maniacal, remorseless criminal, shows up. He insists to the crime bosses that the solution to their problem is to kill “The Batman,” and he is willing to do that for them, but for a price.

Forced into acceptance, the bosses make a deal, and The Joker begins his battle against Batman. While much of the battle is fought on the streets of Gotham, The Joker also forces Batman to think about his life and his choices, making him question everything he has done and will do. In the end, Batman not only has to win the battle against The Joker to save Gotham, he also has to win the battle against himself.

I loved this movie. It was incredible. I loved the first movie in the current series, Batman Begins, but this movie took everything to a new height. I was awe struck. It was non-stop action, and it's two-and-a-half hours in length never felt dragging, or boring.

Bale, as always was amazing. He so easily goes from the tortured soul to the fearless hero in this movie. Eckhart (No Reservations) was surprisingly good in his role as do-gooder turned revenge seeking madman. I much preferred Maggie Gyllenhall (Stranger Than Fiction), as Rachel Dawes, then her predecessor Katie Holmes. She was much more feisty and a strong person overall. Michael Caine, who plays Alfred, was great, as were Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.

Heath Ledger (I'm Not There) was phenomenal!!! His performance was like none other that I have ever seen. The entire time that he was on the screen, you couldn't take yours eyes off of him. The way that he talked and moved was just amazing. It is devastatingly sad that he will never know how much people loved this role, how important he was to the success of this movie.

I recommend this movie to every one, whether you have seen the first movie or not, this is a must!

Final Words: Saw it. LOVED it! R.I.P Heath Ledger.
