Recipe for a rockin' good time

First and foremost I would like to congratulate the new members of S.A.C. I'm excited to meet and work with all of you. Make sure to congratulate them in the hallways when you pass them. They will be working hard over the next fiscal year.

I hope that your year thus far has been rocking nonstop. I know that a lot of you are busy right now with midterms and all that jazz, but keep in mind that the harder you work the bigger your potential wallet gets.

So now, lets talk business. Let me start this off by saying that I'm happy to see a lot of new faces at the events we have been having. The turnouts have been awesome.

I really want to make a point of saying that EVERY FRIDAY is New Music Night at the Shack. You like music don't ya? Who doesn't? l'll tell ya who doesn't... crazy people. And I know that Fanshawe students aren't crazy, so come on out.

We have had some pretty amazing musicians in so far. For those of you that were able to catch JUSTIN NOZUKA, be thankful because that guy is on the road to stardom. CREEPSHOW came to the Out Back Shack and blew peoples minds with their rockabilly sweetness, along side the sexy groovin-tunes played by the DIRTY LOVE BAND. We also featured a Hip to the Hop night, with acts including MIA's own OKAY CITY and SHAD K. These feel-good shows happen all the time. We constantly try to keep you all entertained. So come visit me at the Shack and let me do just that.

For those of you who can't come to the events because you're so busy with school, I understand. But for those of you who don't come out because you would much rather sit at home drinking Rockstar and playing Guitar Hero, we have got just the thing for you: PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR on Monday nights.

The way that this night works is best described in a mathematical equation:

Rockin' Out + Shreddin mad licks = Awesome_Awesome x Absolutely Kick Ass = Monday nights at the Shack. Thirty-six weeks in a school year divided by Monday nights at the Shack = 36 opportunities to have the best time of your life. That pretty well sums it up.

I would also like to thank all the first-year MIAers for putting on an amazing showcase. Big ol' pat-on-the-back for the students who performed, there was undeniable talent within the night. Everything from great singer/songwriters, spoken word performers and hip hop artists to a bagpiper sharing the stage with a DJ. It's relieving to see young innovative musicians.

While we are talking about MIA, I should let you all know about this Friday. There will be three MIA acts opening for CRUSH LUTHER. So come on out and show your support for good music.

The Student Union also has two very special treats coming up for ya. The first one being WHITE COWBELL OKLAHOMA on Friday, November 9. This show is definitely going to be memorable. I don't know of any other bands that have four guitar players, as well as a dude on a chainsaw. It's going to be a rock hard show for sure. The opening act will be the up and coming rock band THE HOOLIE SNATCH, who is reliable for putting on an awesome rock show, so be sure to come out.

Do you like UFC? Well picture UFC with tattooed, pierced girls hitting each other with pillows and you get the PILLOW FIGHT LEAGUE. This is definitely another show you don't want to miss. I was fortunate enough to catch the PFL in Toronto awhile back, and it was definitely a spectacle. I know it sounds a little innocent, but wait until you see fighters such as Boozy Suzy go up against Eiffel Power in a heated Pillow Fight Match. It gets pretty intense.

Also… calling all ghosts, goblins, vampires, princesses, French maids, samsqwenches, Marios and Luigis. On October 31 the Out Back Shack will be having a Halloween Bash. So put on your crazy outfit and come celebrate the scariest of all nights.

Ok Fanshawe.... I have a question for you. It's an opinion piece. I need you guys to shoot me an email saying what you think I should go as for Halloween. The email is fsuentertain@fanshawec.ca. So put on your creative hats and send me your ideas. Nothing too obscene or risque. I'll notify who I think had the best idea.

Alright... that's me news for this week. Always remember, If you've got a bad case of the boredom's, Fanshawe's got the remedy. Come let us entertain you.
