Mentoring For Success accepting students now
Mentoring For Success is celebrating its third year at Fanshawe this fall by aiming to sign up as many students as possible in this year's program.
For those of you who don't know, Mentoring For Success matches current Fanshawe students with grads from the same program in a mentoring partnership. Mentoring is a helping relationship in which an experienced person is matched with someone with less experience to provide advice, guidance, encouragement and support. Mentoring For Success has a career focus and therefore student mentees can get help with their résumé, deciding on a career path, receive advice about school and find out from someone who knows first-hand what it is really like to work in the field they've chosen.
By getting to know an individual in their industry, Mentoring For Success student mentees kick-start their career by building their professional network and discovering information that will help them get a great job after school.
This year is a perfect time to join Mentoring For Success. Mentoring For Success is a volunteer program that looks great on your résumé and only requires two-to-four hours per month of your time, for six months. Students are matched with a Mentor that best suits thier individual needs and can choose to stay in touch via in-person meetings, over the phone or online.
New this year, Mentoring For Success has expanded the number of group meetings which are FREE to all participants. Mentoring For Success has invited guest speakers to provide practical information at fun events on the topics of:
- Networking
- Résumés and interviews
- Îndustry-specific information in a panel setting
- Communication
- Mock interviews
- Image consultation and impression management
