Dear beloved readers. This will be my last article of the year. I sincerely hope that my articles did not fall on deaf ears, and that you were moved by them to think critically about the system, and act for peace, justice, truth, equality, and freedom. Whether you disagreed or agreed with me on certain issues, I hope that you appreciated my intentions, as well as my efforts to pierce through the wall of silence that filters out dissent in our media. But most importantly, I hope that I might have played a small role in inspiring you to work for social change this summer and next year. Remember, one person can do so much and united we shall prevail.

The Fanshawe Social Justice Club has made serious progress this year, and I must thank the hundreds of readers, supporters and especially the club members for making this possible. Be proud that you've helped our club raise funds for the United Palestinian Appeal's emergency food drive in Gaza, for Global Aware Independent Media, for the Fair Trade Clothing Co-op, for the Oaxacan teacher's visit to London, and most importantly for Dicko, the orphaned boy in Burkina Faso that we have adopted. If anybody would like to sponsor an orphan directly through an independent orphanage in Burkina Faso that pays zero administration or advertising costs, contact our club.

Let's not forget about the trips. Our club brought approximately 35 students to the United for Peace and Justice Rally on Capitol Hill in January. Students who missed out will have a great opportunity to join us on some upcoming trips this year. Some members of our club will be organizing a trip to attend a massive rally in Washington on June 10 to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Another trip will be to ground zero in New York City on September 11, where we will join tens of thousands of victims' families, scholars, physicists and activists who demand a new investigation into 9/11. There will also be a trip to Fort Benning, Georgia in November to demand the closure of the infamous “School of the Americas.”

For those who are staying in London for the summer semester, our club will remain active. This is a great chance for anybody to get more involved with the club and connect on a personal level. We are currently attempting to open “The Empowerment Center,” which will serve as a permanent headquarters for student activists here in London. The concept is to take a house and transform it into a co-op for progressive students who wish to promote peace, human rights and environmental issues. Students will be able to volunteer at the centre and help distribute alternative media and fair trade products. We hope that it will become a base for building and organizing the student movement here. We will need all the help we can get, both volunteers and financial aid, to get this centre off the ground, so do not hesitate to offer any support you can.

Our school year is over, but our resistance to war, oppression, exploitation, pollution, lies and greed will never cease growing, and our drive for a better world is both uninterrupted and unstoppable.

One World. One People. One Love.
