Several London residents have been scammed after a recent job fair.

London Police Service has notified the public about a developing investigation into the legitimacy of an employment fair held recently at a facility in London.

The job fair was reportedly held in an effort to recruit employees for a new factory in London specializing in the manufacture of confectionary goods.

Police are now investigating reports that the job offers extended by the owner of the new candy factory do not exist. It is believed that several people seeking employment provided financial and personal information to this person.

Police recommends that individuals who believe they have a secure offer of employment should be cautioned against leaving their current employment for this opportunity and those people who are concerned about having provided financial information should contact their financial institutions.

The investigation is still ongoing and at this time the motives of the individual making these offers of employment are not known.

Amanda Pfeffer, Public Information and Media Relations officer for the London Police Service said if anyone who may have any information in relation to this investigation should call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670.
