Charity that hits you in the gut

OSAP money, Mommy and Daddy's money or hard earned money, either way you got money. So now let me tell you how to spend it wisely and for a good cause.

Crohn's and Colitis are two painful and unpredictable inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) that affect over 170,000 Canadians. There is no known cause or cure for IBD. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC) was founded in 1974 to help find a cure for IBD and has been hard at work ever since. However, four young women have taken a different approach to raise awareness and money for IBD and have created a benefit concert called “GutRock.”

Although this is the very first GutRock concert, it is already shaping up to be a good one. Six big name bands are on the bill including Terminal Wallys, The Shanks, Tacoma Redd, The Brown Hornets, Romeo Liquor Store and the nationally recognized band The Populars. All of these bands normally headline the shows they play and for only $10 you can see them all and get a very broad taste of music also “Although the GutRock London bands all have very different influences, they are all firmly rooted in rock. There is something for everyone to enjoy during this show, from punk, to hard rock, to power-pop, to bluesy rock and roll,” adds Misty Devine, one of the founders of GutRock.

“Many people will recognize The Populars from hearing them on FM96. They are driving over six-and-a half hours to get here - all the way from Prescott Ontario. They only play London about once a year, so this is a rare chance for their fans to catch them live,” Devine said.

All of the profits will be donated to the CCFC and you get to see six bands! How much better can it get for such a small price to pay?
