Exec Corner: Here's to the next 75 per cent

I'm sitting here looking at my computer much the same as you are sitting there reading this paper. I find myself unable to completely relax, it's coming to that time where everything is either falling into or out of place.

Exams are soon approaching and for those students who are graduating it's a life choice you're about to walk into and make for yourself. All of this can be quite daunting but don't let it bring you down. In fact this is exactly what you need to pick yourself back up. Think about all the life choices you still have to make, think of all the fun you still have left to have. Chances are you're 1/4 done of your life, and if you think about that it means you have the possibility of still enjoying the remaining 75 per cent. Seventy five per cent, that's a hell of a lot of life left.

So next time you feel yourself being overwhelmed with work or stress, sit back and think about how each and everything you choose to do will in fact directly effect the rest of your life. Make positive choices and don't live in regret. Accept who you are and be proud of it, live free, live happy and live with a strong mind and keep that head of yours positive.

Right now you are in a place of learning that alone is something you may be taking for granted. Never will you have the opportunity again to be surrounding by this many people that want to learn. We are all here to pursue our goals and dreams, and there has never been a better time to find friends and enjoy yourself. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't study and work hard. I'm saying you should take the time to breath and relax if need be. Take the time to say “hey, alright.” and pace yourself. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems.

I guess the whole reason I wrote this article is to make sure you take the time to smell the roses, the time to enjoy what's right in front of you. There are a bazillion gallons of beautiful things around you. Take the time to soak them in. It's good for the sinus, unless of course you're allergic to roses and/or other things. Thanks for reading this column all the way to the bottom. I really mean that. More people should read.
