From the Editor: Mental Health Issue

Dear readers,

It’s that time of year when the stress of school finally starts to catch up with us. Midterms are here, assignments are due, and the thrill of a new school year is fading as the reality of our busy lives kicks in.

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed around this time. It’s normal to feel anxious or nervous or stressed or exhausted. Or all of the above. The important thing is that you find time to relax during this hectic time, and remember that it’s OK to take breaks, it’s OK to take care of yourself, and it’s especially OK to seek help if you need it.

The Fanshawe College Student Success and Here For You logos are shown. A young person is shown standing. Text states: A new semester is here. Access student services.

Our Mental Health Issue explores some of the common struggles facing students, from school work, to finances, to nutrition, and more. Our reporters offer their own personal stories of triumph, as well as tips and tricks they’ve acquired through the years to manage their emotions and find calm in stressful times.

As the days get shorter and school gets busier, please remember that there are services here at Fanshawe to help you. The college offers counselling and support, while the FSU hosts a wide range of stress-relieving events to keep you grounded. Remember to take time for yourself, and use the resources at your disposal to make sure you’re not sacrificing your mental health just because you’ve got a lot on your plate.

Sincerely,

Hannah Theodore
