Clowning around in America

With New Year's celebrations reaching a zenith and the United States raising the terror alert to a beaming orange, security was at a high.

In an unusual circumstance, the U.S. Border Patrol helicopter monitoring the U.S./Mexico boundary near El Paso, Texas, was flagged down by a man dressed in a clown suit, complete with face paint, a rainbow wig, and a blue rubber nose.

The unidentified Honduran national apparently had paid his way from his one floor hay and mud shack in the Honduras to the U.S. by doing shows along his route.

According to a U.S. Border Patrol spokeswoman, “he just decided he made a mistake and wanted to be back with his family and asked to be deported. He seemed in pretty good spirits. He was quite funny.”

However, at the time of his arrest his actions were seen as threatening and he was almost shot by a trigger happy jacked up on caffeine Border Patrol agent.

The spokeswoman was also puzzled by how the clown made it to America.

“He suggested he entertained people on the way, but how many people can they fit into a bathtub without sinking it? And of those people, how many actually had money and were actually willing to part with it while he jestered?

“The other cause for concern is what are the odds a refugee fleeing Honduras lands in Mexico? The reality is we can't keep fleeing Mexicans out of our country, I suppose that's why he came across the border here and flagged us down. I think he figured the Mexican authorities wouldn't take him seriously if he said he was an illegal alien in their country.”
