Fanshawe College will suspend its COVID-19 vaccination policy as of April 30.
As of April 30, Fanshawe College’s COVID-19 vaccination policy will be suspended. Proof of vaccination will no longer be required for employees, students and visitors to be on campus. The College confirmed the suspension in a note to staff Wednesday.
Physical distancing requirements, which require maintaining a distance of at least two metres from others, will also be suspended as of April 30, except in employee lunch rooms.
Mask mandates on campus, meanwhile, remain in effect until further notice, meaning a Level 3 medical or three-layer cloth mask must be worn at all times on campus. Passive screening will still be in place at all entrances, and barriers will remain in place at customer service points, washrooms and in academic labs. Other measures, including nightly cleaning and disinfecting, and 100 per cent ventilation will also remain in place, as recommended by the Middlesex-London Health Unit.
The College says that it continues to encourage all those on campus to get vaccinated and receive boosters as they become available.
Fanshawe’s vaccine mandate originally came into effect Nov. 5, 2021, and required anyone on campus to provide proof of at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
